Property owners in Marinette County will find opportunity for almost any type of recreational pursuit and bicycling has not been overlooked. Rural landscapes, beautiful forestlands and protected waterfalls serve as the backdrop for miles of well planned routes. From the shores of the bay of Green Bay to inland lakes and streams, a cyclist can glide effortlessly over smooth country roads or dig into the dirt of rugged forest trails.
Road Biking
The Crivitz Loop - A pleasant 12 mile loop in the center of Marinette County, the Crivitz Loop can serve as the connecting point for cyclists headed for other areas throughout the county. With gently rolling terrain along lightly traveled country roads bicyclists will enjoy a relaxing tour of the heart of Marinette County.
The Menominee River Century Loop - Consisting of two loops, the short loop offers flat terrain along the bay of Green Bay and the long loop offers gently rolling terrain along the Menominee River. The 25-mile loop takes riders along Lake Michigan beaches and through the Peshtigo Harbor Wildlife Area. The 68-mile loop includes all the sights of the 28-mile ride along with Right of Way Road which is in the state Rustic Roads Program and River Road which winds along the Menominee River.
The Pike River and Four Seasons Club Loops - For their first eight miles the Pike River Loop and the Four Seasons Club Loop follow the banks of The Pike River. One of Wisconsin's most scenic and protected rivers points of interest include Dave's Falls, Bull Falls and Yellow Bridge Rapids.
After the two loops split the 45 mile Pike River Loop turns south to Wausaukee through farmlands and woodlands. The 40 mile Four Seasons Loop turns north to the historic Four Seasons Club and scenic Town Corner Lake Road.
The Parkway Road and Thunder Mountain Loops - Following a state Rustic Road, the Parkway Road Loop travels through hilly tracts of largely undeveloped forestlands, past scenic waterfall parks and to the shores of large reservoirs. Along the way bicyclists will pass Veterans Park, Twin Bridge Park, High Falls Dam, McClintock Park and Goodman Park. Sharing some of the scenery of the Parkway Road Loop, Thunder Mountain Loop takes riders to the Thunder River Trout Rearing Station and to one of Marinette County's highest outlooks, the top of Thunder Mountain.
The Pembine Loop and Amberg Loops - Connecting Twelve Foot Falls and Dave's Falls, this 30-mile long route travels by lakes, streams and waterfalls. Riding on rolling, hilly roads bicyclists will can take a break at Dave's Falls, Twelve Foot Falls, Long Slide Falls and Smalley Falls. Quiet scenic roads that bikers will follow include Town Corner Lake Road, Barnes Lake Road and Pike River Road.
A side trip to Morgan Park takes cyclists to peaceful Timm's Lake.
Mountain Biking Marinette County Forestland - Mountain bikers will find miles of rustic forest roads to explore. With more public land per capita than any other county in Wisconsin there is always a new location to mark on the map and go discover a new track. From level terrain in the forestlands closer to the bay to more challenging topography in western Marinette County there is a little-traveled dirt road suitable for almost every rider.
Lake Noquebay Mountain Biking Trail - For mountain bikers that desire a planned route the Lake Noquebay Wildlife Area offers a five mile long series of connected trails. Gently rolling terrain, yet still challenging, the scenic Lake Noquebay trails wind their way through forestlands and ridges and along the edge of a state protected marsh. Well marked with a compact trail base, this is a true single-track trail.
